What Versamixx Aqua Is

Versamixx Aqua is a custom vitamin, trace mineral and functional additive premix for shrimp, tilapia, seabass, seabream and salmonids. Formulas are developed around your species, your water system and your feed manufacturing process, and produced in the EU under GMP+ conditions.

Aquafeed premix carries a constraint that terrestrial premix does not: nutrients have to survive extrusion or steam pelleting, and then survive immersion long enough for the animal to eat the pellet. Vitamin C and thiamine losses in particular are driven by process temperature and by leaching, and the specification has to account for both.

Formulation Scope

  • Stabilised vitamin C — ascorbyl polyphosphate rather than free ascorbic acid, to survive extrusion and resist leaching; central to shell formation in shrimp and to immune competence across species.
  • Fat-soluble vitamins — A, D3, E and K3, with vitamin E specified against the oxidative load of a high-lipid, high-PUFA aquafeed.
  • B-complex — thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenate, B6, B12, folic acid, biotin, inositol and choline, at the higher levels aquatic species require relative to terrestrial livestock.
  • Trace minerals — zinc, manganese, copper, iron, iodine, selenium and cobalt, with chelated forms specified where mineral uptake from the water column complicates the balance.
  • Functional additives on request — MOS and beta-glucans (see VersaMOS), organic acids, antioxidants, mold inhibitors and attractants.

  • Inclusion rate — typically formulated for 2 to 10 kg per tonne of finished aquafeed, according to your species and process.
  • Process tolerance — overages set for extrusion or steam pelleting; tell us your conditioning temperature, retention time and die configuration and the specification is built to hold declared activity post-process.
  • Leaching — protected and coated forms specified where feed remains in water before consumption, which is the normal case in shrimp pond feeding.
  • Particle size — matched to your mixer and to fry, fingerling or grow-out feed formats.
  • Form and storage — free-flowing powder, 25 kg bags. Cool, dry storage; vitamin overage set for tropical storage where relevant.

What is the typical inclusion rate for an aquafeed premix?

Versamixx Aqua is normally formulated for 2 to 10 kg per tonne of finished feed. The concentration is set around your species, feeding regime and the inclusion rate your plant already runs.

How do you protect vitamins through extrusion?

By specifying overage against your actual process conditions and by using protected forms. Stabilised vitamin C as ascorbyl polyphosphate is standard, because free ascorbic acid does not reliably survive extrusion. We need your conditioning temperature, retention time and die configuration to set this correctly.

What is done about nutrient leaching in shrimp feed?

Water-soluble vitamins leach from the pellet before the animal consumes it, especially in shrimp pond feeding where the feed sits in water. Coated and protected forms, plus an overage that accounts for expected immersion time, are specified to compensate.

Do shrimp and finfish need different premixes?

Yes. Shrimp have a markedly higher requirement for stabilised vitamin C and cholesterol-related nutrients linked to moulting and shell formation, and their feeding behaviour means longer immersion. Finfish specifications differ again between tilapia, seabass, seabream and salmonids.

Can MOS, beta-glucans or organic acids be included?

Yes. Immunostimulants such as MOS and beta-glucans, organic acids, antioxidants and attractants can be built into the premix, subject to compatibility and process-stability checks.

Technical data sheet, certificate of analysis and declaration of composition per batch, plus certification documents required for import clearance.
